Slow Loris

Slow Loris (Nycticebus coucang)
Status: Vulnerable
The Slow Loris is a reclusive nocturnal creature found in tropical evergreen rainforests throughout Southeast Asia and South Asia. It is poached from the wild and trafficked long distances across the world to be sold as pets in foreign markets, but this big-eyed, fruit eating furball only feels at home in the treetops.
As with other wild animals, many Slow Lorises die during transport. Still more die in captivity because the people who buy them as pets have no idea how to care for them properly. Moreover, poachers often remove their canines to reduce the effectiveness of their toxic bite. This practice ultimately hurts their ability to eat.
